Are you going to become an organ donor on your Facebook page?

Asked by jaymeh Thu May 3, 2012

Earlier this week Mark Zuckerberg announced on Good Morning America that users can now display that they are an organ donor on their personal pages. We're curious - are you going to display this on your page? Did this lead you to become a registered donor if you weren't already (either with a organization such as Gift of Life or on your driver license)? Or do you feel that this is a private matter and is not appropriate information to be displayed on a social networking site?

Rock Health, incubator for digital healthcare startups, will expand to Boston this summer

Asked by jaymeh Mon Apr 2, 2012

Rock Health founder Halle Tecco tells me that she's planning to launch a Boston edition of the well-regarded incubator program for startup teams using technology to tackle healthcare problems. The program will be held on the campus of Harvard Medical School in Boston, and will accept about six startup teams. Each chosen team gets a grant of $20,000, without having to cough up any equity. This year's program will start in June and conclude in August with a "demo day" for investors.

Is a New Study the Final Word on Drug Side Effect Content in Social Media or Does it Spark More Questions?

Asked by fjohnmar Tue Dec 13, 2011

A few months ago Visible Technologies, a social media analytics firm, released a study examining the prevalence of drug side effect or adverse event conversations in social media content.  This research is important because many pharmaceutical companies have cited fears of adverse events as a major reason for not engaging more aggressively in social media marketing.

Are *Regular* Patients Being Left Out of the Conversation Re: the FDA & Pharma Social Media Marketing?

Asked by fjohnmar Tue Dec 15, 2009

Last month, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration held a widely publicized public hearing focusing on the promotion of drugs and devices via social media.

Can active patient social media users accurately represent the views of "real patients," or is their perspective skewed? On the other hand, are these individuals the most qualified to speak to these issues, as they are active consumers and developers of social media content?
